Perhaps this isn’t the proper thing to ask the Stack Overflow community, but I can’t think of a better place to ask.
Can anyone suggest a free text editor for the Mac that allows for FTP
*Editors and FTP clients on Mac OS X are usually well integrated, allowing you to edit files ’directly on the server’ when initiating the edit in your editor from the FTP client. Share| improve this answer. Answered Feb 1 ’11 at 21:54.
*My favorite text editor, by far, on Mac is TextWrangler though. It does great syntax highlighting, is ver lightweight but uses all of the great Mac APIs to remember its last open state. It is highly configurable and yes, it has an open from FTP/SFTP option that works perfectly.
I currently use Text Wrangler, and recently started using Coda (which I love), but my free trial is ending on Coda. Anyone have good ones?
Although only the trials are free, both BBEdit and TextMate are excellent text editors and reasonably priced. Both have comprehensive syntax highlighting and support for a variety of languages (incl HTML and CSS), and both have support for working with files on FTP sites.Hennes60k77 gold badges9494 silver badges144144 bronze badgesCodeGuyCodeGuy17722 gold badges22 silver badges1212 bronze badgesmigrated from stackoverflow.comFeb 1 ’11 at 21:19Pdf Editor For Mac
